Authenticity, complexity, and balance
Whistler Vineyards was founded by Drs. Stig Hansen and Jennifer Whistler in 2001. Inspired by our passion for Pinot Noir and Burgundy in particular we set out to acquire a property where we could plant a vineyard and develop our own estate. After much research, we settled on a stie located on the "true" Sonoma Coast just four miles from the Pacific Ocean in the north-west corner of Sonoma County close to the town Annapolis. This site, Whistler Vineyard, has the perfect micro-climate and soil-type for producing world class Pinot Noir.
Over the past few years, we have expanded our estate vineyard holdings to include Annapolis Ridge Vineyard just a few miles from Whistler Vineyard. We have farmed and made wine from Little Creek Vineyard (also known as Wilson Vineyard) for many years. We recently acquired a vineyard in Freestone-Occidental, also on the West Sonoma Coast, and we will report more about this project soon.
We are fortunate to operate independently as a family business, allowing us to pursue our own vision and uncompromising approach to farming. We make all vineyard management decisions and are intimately involved with the farming operations, as we firmly believe that great Pinot Noir is created in the vineyard. Our goal is to make authentic wines with complexity and balance. We are continually fine tuning our farming practices to enhance those characteristics and bring forward the varietal and clonal expression of our terroir. All our wines are made by Stig Hansen and associate winemaker Niclas Dermutz at our winery in Dry Creek Valley, CA. Our winery is undergoing major renovations and we plan to open our new tasting room in the Spring of 2026.
